World of Carpets – Darius Abbasi

I am the owner of Mondo Tappeti, Darius Abbasi. Born in Tehran in 1979, I began my training at the renowned Tehran Academy of Art (Art Academic Complex). After living in Italy for over 25 years, I have developed a unique artistic production, in which the profound sophistication of Persian tradition meets the essential lines and innovation of contemporary design. My creative process stems from a meticulous dialogue between artistic vision and craftsmanship. Each rug takes shape from an original design, conceived to transform the traditional carpet into a distinctive, modern work of art. The production is entrusted to master craftsmen who precisely follow my instructions on the loom. The uniqueness of each piece is guaranteed by the exclusive use of the highest-quality natural materials—pure wool, silk, and cotton—worked with vegetable dyes. The essence of my work is reflected in the encounter between the art of painting and the centuries-old tradition of weaving, giving rise to tangible works with a bold, original, and unique character.
